To ensure the right blood reaches the right person at the right
time, FBC established the LifeLines program as a way to touch
employees and donors throughout our 21-county service area.
LifeLines uses education to create an emotional connection with
donors, allowing us to get to really know them individually and
truly understand their needs and concerns. Engaging donors in this
manner will enable us to talk openly with them and expand their
knowledge of our processes and their contributions. The program
will help drive us toward more personalized donations – donations
guided by blood type to better serve patient/transfusion
needs.
LifeLines begins with furthering our own knowledge about basic
immunology, the Rh system, and blood components. We need to cater
to the individual donor’s interests, including their personal blood
type, how frequently they can commit to donating blood, and which
procedure best maximizes their donation. An in-depth understanding
of our business will allow us to convey that knowledge successfully
to our donors, enabling them to be actively involved and ultimately
more comfortable.
Our donors are entitled to be informed by us about the impact their
donations are having on saving lives, and to know and understand
the process. We can only accomplish that through education and it
includes personal contact and developing relationships with
donors.
